Latent Period
Infectivity period cases, without clinical symptoms presentation (human strain), 24 hours after infection up to (approximate) 12 months.
Incubation Period
Presentation of clinical symptoms can be 12 hours to (approximate) 12 months.
Clinical Symptom Presentation
Stage 1
Flu-like symptoms. Back of the neck may ache. If contracted by a bite, the bite location may twitch or feel uncomfortable. Lasts 48 hrs.
Stage 2
Blackouts, hypersalivation, bruxism begins (grinding teeth) and may break teeth, hydrophobia, indications of hyper delirium, indications of aggression. Uncontrollable urge to bite. Lasts 2-3 days.
Stage 3
High fever. Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) begins, producing an involuntary bark-like choking sound. Series of small seizures. Hypersalivation may become free flowing foam. Increased hyperactive delirium. Increased aggression. Increased uncontrollable urge to bite. May show dilated pupils. Onset of dementia with some memories of repetitive simple tasks, e.g. opening a door, retained. Aphasia (inability to coherently speak) begins.
Stage 4
Dementia, inability to remember repetitive simple tasks. Extreme hyperactive delirium. Extreme aggression. Violent. Extreme hydrophobia. Extreme uncontrollable urge to bite. Tachycardic (rapid heartbeat) and hyperpyrexia (body temperate above 106.7 degrees Fahrenheit), causing increased body heat, resulting in host removing clothing. Dilated pupils. Increased series of small seizures. Analgesic (inability to feel pain) begins.
Stage 4
Septicemia. Hypoactive delirium.
Stage 5
Catastrophic multiple organ failure. Death.
